Trade Student Reimbursement Program

Trade Student Reimbursement Program is set up to help assist at risk youth find a career outside of high school following their senior year.  Through completion of the Oakland Assistance Economics class and obtaining either a high school diploma or a GED with at least a 2.5 gpa students will have the opportunity to qualify for a $2000 grant from Oakland Assistance Chapter to go toward a trade program or tools for a trade (if trade has paid internship).  Student is required to successfully complete trade program or paid internship in order to obtain the grant.  This program is funded by our online community service program and our web-based counseling program.  Our mission with our Trade Student Reimbursement Program is to help our youth transition into adulthood with a better understanding of American economics and a foot forward financially.  


Oakland Assistance Economics Class is a nine week course that meets both in high schools where the program is accepted and online via our web counseling portal.  Class meets once a week for a two hour period.

  • How to plan a professional day/week/month
  • Time management
  • How to build a resume
  • How to search for the "right" type of job
  • How to interview for a job
  • What is a budget?
  • How to manage a budget
  • What is debt?
  • How to stay out of debt
